LA HISTORIA DE SPIDERMAN, VENOM Y CARNAGE

En un planeta creado por un ser que se llamaba a sí mismo el Todopoderoso, el luchador contra el crimen conocido como Spiderman obtuvo un nuevo traje negro cuando su habitual vestimenta rojiazul fue destrozada. Después de que el asgardiano Dios del Trueno, Thor, adquirió una capa y un casco nuevo de una extraña máquina que replicaba ropa, Spiderman intentó lo mismo, pero se equivocó y encontró una máquina que albergaba un extraño simbionte, una de las extrañas formas de vida de ese planeta. Cuando Spiderman cogió la pequeña bola negra, esta se extendió inmediatamente cubriendo enteramente su cuerpo pero no adquirió la forma de su traje rojiblanco. En cambio adquirió la apariencia del traje de la nueva superheroína aparecida, Spiderwoman, a la que Spiderman había estado admirando.
El lanzarredes estaba encantado con las propiedades de su nueva vestimenta, pero nunca se cuestionó como podía realizar todas esas maravillas. Por ejemplo, podía imitar cualquier tipo de vestimenta, haciendo que Spiderman no tuviera que cambiarse de ropa. También contenía una abertura dimensional en la que podía guardar su camara, monedas, y otros objetos sin añadir masa al traje. El traje estaba también equipado con sus propios lanzarredes, conteniendo al parecer una iimitada cantidad de ellas.
Una vez que Spiderman volvió a la Tierra, el traje alienígena no toleraba estar separado de su huesped por largos períodos de tiempo. Por las noches, cuando el alter-ego de Spiderman, Peter Parker, dormía el simbionte lo cubría y enviaba al sonámbulo a combatir el crimen. Más tarde Spiderman combatió al Puma, que percibió que las telarañas eran orgánicas. Debido a esta revelación, Spiderman aceptó la oferta de Reed Richards para estudiar el traje. Richards descubrió que el traje era un simbionte alienígena, un parásito que quería unirse permanentemente a Spiderman, tanto física como mentalmente. Finalmente, Richards consiguió separar al traje de su huesped con un disparo de un rayo sónico, encerrándolo después en una celda con un entorno especial.
Pero el alien era más inteligente de lo que parecía, escapo de la celda y se las arreglo para acercarse a Peter Parker tomando el aspecto de su viejo traje rojiblanco. Spiderman se puso el traje y este adquirió inmediatamente su verdadera apariencia. Spiderman llevó el traje hasta la torre de la Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de los Santos, apostando porque el intenso sonido de las campanas lo destruiría. Spiderman perdió la apuesta pues él sucumbió a las campanas antes de que lo hiciera el traje. Sin embargo, el parásito empático, había aprendido como sentir y actuó. Sacrificandose a sí mismo, el traje alienígena salvó a Spiderman, que asumió que se había alejado para morir.
Efectivamente, el simbionte, débil y moribundo, se derrumbó en la iglesia donde Eddie Brock se encontraba rezando arrodillado en el altar. Educado en el Catolicismo, estaba pidiendo perdón por el suicidio que estaba pensando cometer. Brock había sido un exitoso columnista en el revivido Daily Globe hasta que empezó a escribir una serie de artículos sobre los asesinatos del Comepecados. Un falso delincuente había confesado a Brock haber cometido los crímenes. Protegiendo la identidad del asesino amparandose en la Primera Enmienda, Brock relataba cada día su historía en el Globe hata que, recibiendo presines por parte de las autoridades, se vió obligado a publicar una exclusiva delatando al asesino. Aunque esta edición se agotó rápidamente, Spiderman pronto revelaría la verdadera identidad del Comepecados, el detective Stan Carter, convirtiendo a Brock en el hazmerreír de sus colegas de profesión.
Explusado del Globe se vió obligado a escribir venenosos reportajes para periódicos escándalo de ahí en adelante. Brock echaba la culpa de todos sus males a Spiderman y comenzó un entrenamiento físico intensivo para reducir el stress al que su vida se veía sometida. Sin embargo, estos ejercicios sólo aumentaban su violenta obsesión hacía Spiderman. Aunque el cuerpo de Brock había alcanzado aparentemente la perfección, su mente se había visto reducida a un contenedor de odio que lo consumía todo. Este odio se veía agravado debido a su afección, un extraño tumor en las glándulas adrenalínicas.
Fueron estas descontroladas emociones, así como el gran nivel de adrenalina de Brock, las que atrajeron al parásito empático, para poder sobrevivir el traje alienígena buscaba unirse a la fuente de emociones más intensa y cercana, debido a que se alimentaba de adrenalina. El simbionte se unió física y mentalmente a Brock, cuyas emociones sobrecargaron al todavía confuso alien. El pensamiento dominante en las dos mentes era Spiderman pero el extremo odio de Brock duplicó en el alien los mismos sentimientos. En efecto, las emociones de Brock volvieron loco al simbionte. Brock pronto descubrió que el traje le dotaba de los mismos poderes de Spiderman y algunos más. También añadió masa a su cuerpo y aumentó su fuerza hasta límites superhumanos. Llamándose Veneno, Brock hizó que del traje brotara una espantosa mueca y planeo su venganza.
A través del traje, Veneno sabía mucho sobre Spiderman, incluyendo su identidad secreta y lo aprovechó para tantearle con pequeños ataques como la vez que lo empujo bajo las vías de un tren subterráneo. Esto era posible porque el traje podía evadir el sentido arácnido de Spiderman, presumiblemente proyectando frecuencias contradictorias sobre los impulsos cerebrales que controlan dicho mecanismo. Veneno, finalmente, realzó un movimiento a cara descubierta cuando se enfrentó a la esposa de Parker, Mary Jane Watson-Parker en su viejo apartamento de Chelsea. Aunque la doble moral de Veneno no le permitía herir físicamente a Mary Jane, inmediatamente Spiderman se dió cuenta de la naturaleza de esta amenaza. Yendo a recoger el rayo sónico de los Cuatro Fantásticos, Spiderman se enfrentó a Veneno en la Igleia de Nuestra Señora de los Santos. Aunque le disparó con el rayo, Spiderman descubrió que el simbionte no podía ser separado de Brock porque se había fusionado completamente con él. Intentano huir para replantearse sus opciones, Spiderman fue capturado por Veneno. Este metió a Spiderman dentro de una de las campanas de la iglesia y lo ató con una gran cantidad de telarañas pero Spiderman escapó a duras penas rompiendo el badajo de la campana antes de derrotar a Veneno, cuando este se vió obligado a gastar más redes de las que podía producir. Antes de que el alien pudiera regenerar suficiente masa como para volverse una amenaza, Spiderman se lo llevó de nuevo a los Cuatro Fantásticos que lo encerraron en una celda de contención sónica. Después los Cuatro Fantásticos enviaron a Veneno a la prisión gubernamental para super-criminales, ubicada en las montañas de Colorado, apodada la Bóveda.
Veneno pronto escapó de allí, haciendo que el traje alienígena se transformara en un uniforme de guardia. Un joven guardia que había sido asignado a la Boveda fue engañado y creyendo que Veneno era un colega caído desactivó el mecanismo de la celda. Tras esto, Veneno mató al confiado guardia y escapó a Nueva York donde se enfrentó otra vez con Spiderman. Esta vez Spiderman uso la psicología contra el alien, tentando al simbionte alienígena a volver con él. El alien confundido por su relación de amor-odio con Spiderman intentó dejar a Brock y restablecer su unión con su huesped original. Pero el trauma de intentar desligarse del sistema nervioso de Brock era más de lo que podía soportar. El traje alienígena y Eddie Brock se desmayaron, siendo devueltos a la Bóveda.
De nuevo en libertad Veneno terminó convirtiéndose en defensor de los inocentes, aplicando sus salvajes metodos con los criminales, a los que mataba sin dudar. Aunque lo peor que hizo Veneno sin duda fue engendrar otro simbionte que se unió a un psicopata asesino llamado Cletus Kasady transformándolo en Matanza. Tan terrible resultó Matanza que Veneno se vio obligado a aliarse con Spiderman para hacer frente a su "hijo".
Veneno se acabo instalando en la ciudad subterranea de "los sin hogar" donde vivian muchos pobres, a cambio de su hospitalidad Veneno seria su protector. Veneno se enfrentó a muchos enemigos más en su deseo de proteger inocentes: Morbius, Demoduende,... incluso al Castigador y al Juggernaut. También luchó contra cinco simbiontes que el mismo había engendrado y también contra Matanza.
Aunque abandonó la ciudad de "los sin hogar" siguió repartiendo su justicia particular. Veneno siempre había sido bastante desquilibrado, pero pasó temporadas esquizofrenicas y paranóicas, como cuando fue infectado por un virus de mercurio o su simbonte se fue a comer cerebros.
A pesar de sus antecedentes, Veneno fue contratado por el FBI, convirtiéndose en agente secreto. Durante un tiempo el simbionte se separó de Eddie Brock pero volvieron a unirse. Recientemente se ha unido a los Seis Siniestros y ha absorvido al simbionte de Matanza.
Harto del dolor que le producía el cáncer de Brock, el simbionte intentó unirse de nuevo a Spiderman, puesto que se sentía en necesidad de procrear de nuevo, y precisaba de un portador sano para hacerlo. El simbionte había convertido a Brock en poco más que una cáscara vacia, al que forzaba a producir adrenalina para alimentarse. Cansado, lo más probable, de alimentarse de Brock, el simbionte comenzó a atacar a otros enfermos de cáncer.
Abandonando el cuerpo de Brock y atacando a Spiderman para utilizarlo de nuevo como portador (debido a que el sentido arácnido de Spiderman funciona a chorros adrenalínicos), el simbionte fue engañando para poseer de nuevo a Brock por el trepamuros, condenando a ambos, simbionte y Brock, a permanecer unidos hasta su muerte.
Aunque Veneno perdió la oportunidad de convertirse de nuevo en padre, pronto sería abuelo. Matanza, el organismo simbiótico formado por Cletus Kassady y su hijo simbiótico, estaba embarazado. Veneno se vio obligado a proteger a su nieto simbiótico, Toxina, de Matanza, que quería asesinarlo.
Las intenciones de Veneno eran educar al simbionte número mil de su linaje en las tradiciones simbióticas, para poder aliarse con él y destruir a Spiderman. Sin embargo, el portador de Toxina, el agente de policía Pat Mulligan, pretendía usar al nuevo simbionte para el bien, por lo que Veneno se alió con Matanza para intentar matar a su nieto. Pero esta alianza fue fútil, porque el ataque fue rechazado tanto por Spiderman y la Gata Negra como por Toxina, y Veneno y Matanza se vieron obligados a huir.
Ajenos a estos acontecimientos, el Ejército de los Estados Unidos parece haber estado experimentando con un simbionte similar al de Veneno. Este se liberó de su encierro en una base ártica y huyó hacia la civilización poseyendo a un perro que tiraba de los trineos, a pesar de los esfuerzos de otro alienígena -supuestamente de una agencia intergaláctica- para destruirlo.
